President's Message
Happy New Year! As the start of the new year lies ahead - a time of rebirth and renewal, I am reminded that this is the perfect opportunity to reaffirm my commitments both personally and professionally. It is in that spirit of reaffirmation that I'm urging you to challenge yourself, your chapter, your committee chairs, and your board to help make this Association the best it can be. As many of you may be aware, my humble beginnings started with my studies in Culinary Arts and Hotel/Restaurant management. I've designed a special recipe that I believe will create a formidable and desirable DCMA this year. Ingredients: 1 cup of committed committee members 2 heaping tablespoons of continuing education A pinch of professional development 1/4 cup your involvement Add a dash of gratitude to the pot and bring to a boil. *At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees it boils. And with boiling water comes steam. And with steam, you can power a train. Go the extra degree! Please know, as always your feedback is important and continues to be essential for our continuous improvement. Keep it coming-Janice stands ready and available to receive and incorporate your suggestions! (Thank you Janice!) Did you know... The Detroit Club Managers are making a run at the Medium Size Chapter of the Year? Our Chapter attains points through certain activities such as; Wine donations for Club Foundation, Idea Fair entries at Conference, members attaining CCM and MCM, and many other items like our great education and community volunteering. Call a Board member or Janice to see where you can help out, whether it's submitting an Idea Fair entry for Conference or helping on one of our many committees! May the new year renew your energy and bring you and abundance of happiness, new members, creative new ideas, and good health. Matthew A. Carter, CCM

We believe the management of clubs is an honorable calling. It shall be incumbent upon club managers to be knowledgable in the applications of sound business principle in the management of clubs, with ample opportunity to keep abreast of current practices and procedures. We are convinced that the Club Managers Association of America best represents these interests, and as members thereof, subscribe to our code of ethics.
